Outstanding feature: rotation on mount allows various shot angles on the go
Overall impression: exceptionally easy to use.
iON cameras have recently been relaunched in SA by the company that imports Nikon, which knows a thing or two about image quality. The Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi is its top-of-the range camera, with features such as the Wi-Fi PODZ for real-time shoot-and-share capabilities, HDMI port for playback and an external mic socket. For all its inbuilt features and low-profile tube design (waterproof metal and plastic), it’s easily operated with a glove-friendly start/stop slide switch.
Image quality is excellent. Its perhaps the only model that comes close to the GoPro Hero3 Blakc in pure video performance. You lose a bit of field-of-view range at the top end as you have only 127° when selecting full HD on the quick-change setting, which shoots at 30 fps. At 720 p you get 60 FPS, and the full benefit of the 170° field of view.
The Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi ships with various mounts, including a light twisty-leg tripod that’s fits into your pocket, and you get 8 GB free cloud storage if you register on the site, which we like.
Max resolution: 1 080 p, 30 fps
