Cobus Kok, Elaine Beytell and URcycling team displayed 24 hour pedigree

Enter the gates of Koedoeslaagte Trail Park & Venue just outside of Parys and you get swept away to a mountain biking bushveld paradise, where nothing else but riding your bike and having a great time matters. This is what riders experienced this past weekend at the CEMSA 24 Hour Southern Skies event. The event was previously held at the Anatomic Sportswear Factory in the heart of Parys but for the last three years it has found its new home at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park & Venue. The entire Koekemoer family, especially Hannes and Attie, have worked extremely hard to share their passion for MTB with others by creating a MTB Venue to host events such as the 24 hour and skills / training camps for schools, teams or individuals.

This years CEMSA 24 Hour Southern Skies event drew 57 solo entries and 23 teams, ranging from serious racing snakes to schools teams and families. The 24 Hour day route (7km) and night route (5km) was a real XCO feature filled route, from steep little drops, sharp kicks, climbs, bridge crossings, flat bushveld stretches to recover on and fast flowing single track next to the Vaal river…..not forgetting flying through and dropping out of the “Spookhuis”.
